Solange Urdang

Solange Urdang

Solange trained at the Urdang Academy Lower and Upper Schools as well as at The High School of Performing Arts in New York during her studies. Solange then went on to have a successful career mainly in commercial dance, theatre and within the music industry before going on to study art and design.

Becoming CEO of the Urdang Academy in 2001, Solange has since developed it to be one of the UK’s most prolific vocational colleges with an internationally renowned reputation. She negotiated and implemented the successful move to The Old Finsbury Town Hall in Islington from Covent Garden, the expansion into the Urdang 2 premises as well as establishing Urdang International.

Solange has spent her career pushing boundaries and building cultural bridges and sits on various panels promoting and developing diversity in professional musical theatre and dance training. She is co-founder and co-director of The Black British Theatre Awards, and The Black Theatre & Film Directory. She is also the founder of Link Talent Agency, a patron of Palace of The Dogs and Jason Thomas Performing Arts.

Solange comes from an impressive family of activists. Born to the late Leonie Urdang (founder of the Urdang Academy), who fled South Africa in the sixties to London after witnessing apartheid and its injustices. Solange is involved and passionately supports various charity-based performing arts projects both in the UK and Cape Town, South Africa, in particular BBTA Outreach and Denis Goldberg’s House of Hope.


Tara Foy

Tara Foy

Tara Foy received her training at The Royal Ballet School, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Kirov Academy and North London Academy of Education and Arts.  After an extensive career performing as a professional ballerina across Europe, Asia and the Americas.  Ms Foy has become a prominent choreographer, director and a world-renowned ballet mistress coaching principal dancers from prestigious ballet companies such as The Royal Ballet Company, The Birmingham Royal Ballet, New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater,

The National Ballet de Cuba, Houston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet and The National Ballet of Canada.

Cirque Du Soleil, Las Vegas appointed Ms Foy as resident ballet mistress for Mystere, Love, Ka, Believe, Viva Elvis and Zumanity over a 25-year span training the artists in classical ballet and Pilates and Gyrokinesis. She was assistant choreographer working with Debbie Brown on the original dance segments in Mystere. Other major production shows that Ms Foy has held the position of resident ballet mistress are:
Twyla Tharp’s Sinatra Dances with Me, Celine Dion’s New Day, Phantom of the Opera
Las Vegas Spectacular, Notre Dame de Paris, Havana Nights, Enter the Night and Siegfried and Roy where she was also the choreographer of multiple segments for both shows.

Ms Foy has had the greatest pleasure to be personally coached by legends such as
Sir Fredrick Ashton in Birthday Offerings, Sir Anton Dolin in Pas de Quatre, Dame Ninette de Valois in Rake’s Progress, Dame Alicia Markova in Les Sylphides, Jerome Robbins in Dancers, Lou Conte New Country, Gus Giordano Gang Hep and has had the pleasure of working directly with entertainment icons Michael Jackson and David Bowie.

Ms Foy is a dance medicine specialist and a certified master Pilates teacher in the Polestar method and a licensed Gyrokinesis trainer and Floor Barre teacher.  She has rehabbed and coached world champion athletes and performers including Tiger Woods, Jason Giambi, Shane Victorino, Chita Rivera, Tommy Tune, Donnie Osmond and the late great legend Gillian Lynn.

Ms Foy has been a guest artist coach and choreographer spanning over three decades with Nevada Ballet Theatre and in 2015 was appointed ballet mistress under artistic director James Canfield. In 2016 she was commissioned to co- choreograph with Mr Canfield two world premiere ballets for NBT Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty to sold-out performances at The Smith Center which gained critically acclaimed reviews.
In 2017 Ms Foy received the greatest honour of assisting legendary premier ballerina Ms Cynthia Gregory on her two-act ballet of Swan Lake and last year was given the prestigious role to re-stage Balanchine’s Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.

In addition Ms Foy has staged Romeo and Juliet, Dracula, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, Don Quixote, Flower Festival, Les Sylphides and La Fille Mal Gardee pas de deux. Ms Foy is currently the repetiteur and associate choreographer for Nevada Ballet Theatre’s annual production of The Nutcracker choreographed by James Canfield, which is in its eighth sold-out season.

As a prestigious master class teacher and coach Ms Foy has taught classes and judged on many established conventions and competitions throughout the US and Europe and continues to teach nationally and internationally through the year.

For 20 years Ms Foy has hosted Tara Foy’s Elite Ballet Summer Intensive attracting young promising ballet dancers from around the world.

Claudimar Neto

Claudimar Neto

Claudimar trained in Dance and Musical Theatre at The Urdang Academy, he also spent two years training in Dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire.

Claudimar made his professional debut with American artist Beth Ditto in her European tour. Following on from this, he joined the touring cast of Thriller Live. He later made his West End debut in the London production of Thriller Live at the Lyric theatre as second cover Michael Jackson.

From then he moved on to work in the commercial industry, working with artists such as Little Mix, Rita Ora, Gloria Gaynor, Ella Henderson, Girls Aloud, Cheryl, CeeLo Green, Jess Glynne, X-factor UK tours, Fleur East and MNEK.

After working with Little Mix for 3 years as their Dance Captain, he moved up to assisting Beth Honan, one of the UK’s leading choreographers. He later became assistant choreographer for the Little Mix.

Claudimar has now established himself as a choreographer in his own right, taking creative control as one of the choreographers for the X-Factor UK tour 2019, alongside Dean Lee. He was recently on a USA & Canadian Tour with MNEK.

Sam Jackson

Sam Jackson

Sam trained at Urdang Academy and has been working in the music industry as a Performer, Choreographer and Writer/Director for many years. 

She has been lucky enough to have started her career as a dancer, actress and singer having had the opportunity to tour the world in colossal arenas with music artists such as Sean Paul, Beyonce, Destiny’s Child, East17, Boyzone, Styles and Breeze, Phixx, Mark Morrison, P Diddy, Worlds Apart and LL Cool J. As a choreographer, Sam has worked on the Brits, MOBO Awards, numerous Music Videos as well as many international TV shows.

Sam is the founder and CEO of the award-winning X7eaven Academy in London. As a teacher and creative, Sam has a unique and special talent when it comes to helping professionals develop their artistic abilities and inner confidence. Her unique and dynamic style of teaching, directing and choreographing mixes all different genres of dance styles in which she has trained.

Sam’s accolades include her work on the award-winning A Midsummer Madness which was performed in New-York, London and at the Edinburgh Festival by the talented cast of Hackney Harlem. Sam also co-choreographed the pantomime Dick Whittington & His Cat at the Hackney Empire. She has written and directed several original productions which have been commissioned by The Barbican, Borough of Waltham Forest and neighbouring boroughs as well as theatres around London. As a Producer, Sam is also an influential member of Creative Citizens Leadership Team. Recently producing The News from Nowhere Stage with the Barbican at the annual Walthamstow Garden Party. This involves commissioning multiple acts and sharing her experience with likeminded creative’s, who share the same vision of empowering the artistic and talented people of London and beyond.

Mikey Jay Heath

Mikey Jay Heath

Mikey Jay Heath oversees the dance training on our BTEC performing arts course at Kent College Dubai.

Mikey is a professional musical theatre performer. He trained on a full scholarship at the Urdang Academy and is thrilled to be joining the Urdang International Team in the UAE.

Mikey’s theatre credits include playing Tom Thumb in the National Tour of Barnum for Sir Cameron Mackintosh, Mike Teavee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the famous Theatre Royal Drury Lane, West End. Mikey has also played Doody in Grease in Milan, Peter Pan for QDOS and most recently was Judah in the 40th anniversary UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

When Mikey is not on stage performing he teaches West End masterclasses and workshops across the UK and Ireland for dance schools and top London Colleges.

Robine Landi

Robine Landi

Robine Landi oversees the musical theatre training on our BTEC performing arts course at Kent College Dubai.

Robine’s work includes collaborations with leading artists from film, theatre, opera and dance and she enjoys a varied career as an actress, singer and animateur. An experienced coach and workshop leader, Robine has worked with the National Theatre, The Birmingham Stage Company, Soho Theatre, Opera Holland Park and Pegasus Opera. As a lecturer of voice and acting she has taught for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the Urdang Academy, Millennium Performing Arts, Mountview Academy and Italia Conti. Robine is a trustee for the Fergal O’Mahony Foundation, a charity providing financial support for young musicians in the UK.
